DC and Marvel - Inspired by Hindu Mythology Seven Characters

Did you know there are characters in DC and Marvel comics which are inspired by Hindu Gods? DC/ Marvel comics have been printed for at least 80 years. They’ve taken earlier inspiration from Norse and Greek God. The comic book mythos is stuffed with Superheroes and Super Villains with God like superpowers.  

DC and Marvel Characters Inspired by Hindu Mythology

1. Indra

In Indian MythologyIndra is the God of War. In Marvel Comics, his history might be a bit too murky and contentious. Indra is considered the most powerful Warrior God of the various Pantheon. After Thor battled Shiva and easily conquered him, a severe backlash from Hindu readers headed Marvel comics to alter that narrative to Indra posing as Shiva from the battle. Indra has made many appearances in later difficulties such as Chaos War. 

2. Ahriman

DC and Marvel - Inspired by Hindu Mythology Seven CharactersAhriman is a Hindu God who is also known by his name ‘Ravana’. They neglected to turn him into the Dark Side. Ahriman would later join hands together with the Titan Cronus to overthrow the Hindu Pantheon. He was defeated by the joint efforts of Lord Rama along with Wonder Woman.  

3. Brahma

He has not had a lot of part in Marvel comics but he’s too strong to be a supporting role. He is a portion of the Devas. The Devas’ structure allows them much higher strength than regular Gods. Brahma being a chief figure of the Devas is a degree above most. He’s both the brawn and the brains to back him up.  

4. Vishnu

Vishnu is the leader of the Hindu Pantheon. The Council of Godheads, which has three members, comprises Odin and Zeus, has Vishnu because of its third member. Lord Vishnu is the ruler of Vaikunth in the Marvel universe and was a part of the group of Gods that tried to fight the Celestial Host before he can destroy the whole planet.  

5. Shiva

Shiva is next on the list since he’s closely connected to the former entry. Shiva is one of those 3 Skyfathers which lead the Hindu Pantheon. When Asgard was destroyed, it was Thor that tried to convince the Hindu Pantheon to give up a part of the character to assist the Asgardian race could be reborn.  

6. Ganesh

The Hindu God of Wisdom and Good Luck isGanesh. Ganesh has the body of a human being and the head of an elephant. Ganesh has decelerated aging, an intense level of wisdom as well as the capacity to influence probability.  

7. Lord Rama

Lord Rama is just one of those avatars of Lord Vishnu and among the most effective Gods out there. He has several godlike abilities but his most prominent one is his ability to enter a rage mode which vastly raises his already extreme levels of attributes.
