Maharashtra opener Swapnil Gugale hit on a century as the hosts driven their way to 298 on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy Group A game on Thursday for 3 against Mumbai. Skipper Rahul Tripathi (25 not out) was holding the fort with Pande in stumps. 

At Vadodara, Baroda bowled Chhattisgarh for a paltry 129 out after which overhauled the entire to be by the close. Saurashtra skipper Jaydev Shah, who is currently playing his final game, directed from the front, since the hosts managed to post 288 for 9 against 35, scoring a valiant 97. 

At Valsad, Piyush Chawla slammed an unbeaten century to take hosts Gujarat against Railways to 340/8. By scoring a 69, Gujarat skipper Priyank Panchal also demonstrated his mettle.
