The makers of Student of the Year two have released the first song from the film — a version of the Kishore Kumar number Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. The Randhir Kapoor-Jaya Bhaduri nee Bachchan song’s variant was picturised on Ananya Panday, Tara Sutaria, Tiger Shroff and Aditya Seal as part of the performance in a college contest. The lead cast can be seen grooving to the dance amount.
The version was written by music director duo Vishal-Shekhar and choreographed by Remo D’Souza. Even though Kishore’s vocals are kept from the original, Vishal Dadlani have contributed added lyrics.
Talking about why he chose to reprise the tune, director Punit Malhotra told DNA in a meeting,”We had this circumstance, of a dancing contest and were wondering what kind of track to pick for this. The first Student Of The Year (2012) had Disco Deewane (a recreated version of Nazia and Zoheb Hassan’s 1981 chartbuster). We chose to take on an old tune. The situation in this film is similar. That is why we thought it was best to maintain the good luck “
He added,”The way Tiger dances is amazing. Aditya, Tara and ananya also have performed nicely, making it a good competition number. We had a blast shooting the tune, it is youthful, fresh and looks spectacular.”
Based on manager Punit Malhotra, the amount fit in organically from the drama, which stars Tiger Shroff, Aditya Seal and marks the debut of Ananya Panday as well as Tara Sutaria. He says,”We had this circumstance, of a dance competition and were wondering what type of track to pick for it. The first Student Of The Year (2012) had Disco Deewane (a recreated version of Nazia and Zoheb Hassan’s 1981 chartbuster). We decided to take on an old song. Additionally, the situation in this movie is similar. That is why we believed it was best to maintain the good luck going.”
Punit adds that the song, which was picturised on Randhir Kapoor and Jaya Bhaduri (currently Bachchan), is one of his and producer Karan Johar’s all-time favorite tracks. “It was on our radar. So, we did not feel the necessity. It is a huge number and it does justice. Even the audio is so catchy that it immediately makes you tapping your toes. Moreover, this dance contest comes at a crucial point in the storyline.”
Punit is optimistic about the song’s popularity. “We’ve used a bit of it at the trailer and the response has been quite encouraging.” Remo D’souza choreographed the trail, which comprises Tiger, Ananya Aditya and a range of dancers. “The way Tiger dances is wonderful. Tara, ananya and Aditya have performed nicely, which makes it a contest number. We had a blast shooting the tune, it is youthful, fresh and looks spectacular.”
